Beyond providing the energy to power vehicles, diesel fuel performs several other key roles. It cools the injection system, lubricates fuel and injection pumps, and it transfers contaminants to fuel filters.
Fuel contamination is an engine’s biggest enemy. Dirt and sediment, water and organic contaminants can all be harmful and costly. Particles greater than 4 microns in size are known to cause wear to engine systems- human hair is typically 50 to 70 microns in diameter.
To meet these demanding requirements, finer filtration requires a range of media types in a variety of micron ratings for fuel filters and fuel/water separators. That way, appropriate protection from wear is achievable.
