Continental Tire has voluntarily begun a safety-related recall of 655 commercial vehicle tires. The tires involved in the recall are 11R22.5 Conti Hybrid HS3, Load Range G manufactured during production DOT weeks 0918, 1018 and 1118.
The tires could have potential visible cords through the inner liner which could cause loss of internal pressure through the sidewall resulting in slow or rapid deflation during tire mounting or while the tire is in service.
The tires, which were sold in the original equipment and replacement markets in the U.S. and Canada, are identified with DOT codes A33T KWUX 0918, A33T KWUX 1018, and A33T KWUX 1118.
Continental has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Transport Canada abut the recall, but the company has not received any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from the defect.
For tires sold as original equipment, Continental is reaching out to customers who purchased vehicles with affected tires. For tires sold as replacements, Continental is in communication with its distributors and dealers to identify customers who purchased affected tires. All such tires will be replaced with no cost to the owners.
Customers seeking more information may contact their local Continental sales representative or customer service. The U.S. contact number is 1-800-450-4028.
