Trucklite Connection

East adopts Truck-Lite harnesses for its trailers

New trapezoid shape helps ensure better wiring connection. East Manufacturing, which makes aluminum flatbed, drop deck, dump and refuse trailers as well as aluminum truck bodies, adopted the Truck-Lite 99 Series wiring harness as a standard feature on all of its new East BST, BST II, MMX and NARROW NECK flatbed trailers as of February this year.

The Truck-Lite 99 Series has been designed as a closed system by integrating a molded plug with two sealing surfaces, rather than just one. This new two-seal plug keeps moisture and debris out of the plug, guarding against corrosion.

The 99 Series uses a clamp, also serving as the mounting bracket that wraps around the width of the plug to ensure that the connection is secure. Typical harness clamps only wrap around the junction itself so the wider clamp holds the joint more securely, resulting in a more reliable connection.

Truck-Lite’s harness feature a trapezoid-shaped connection, which makes installation quick and easy, and it allows the operator to be confident in proper pin alignment and a positive lock. Since most harness cable connectors are round, it is sometimes difficult for an operator to be assured of a positive pin connection from underneath the trailer, noted Jon Stineman, U.S. OEM sales director for Truck-Lite.

“We are excited to equip our flatbed trailers with the new 99 Series harness,” added Dave de Poincy, president of East. “Truck-Lite’s attention to connection and corrosion issues will provide our customers with a more reliable and secure connection, which coincides with our mission to provide reliable trailer products for our customers.”
